Good day fellow foodies! Welcome back. I hope you are enjoying your day. Folio Weekly invited myself and other local foodies to the Folio Bite Club event, which was held at Craft Pizza Co. in Neptune Beach, FL. The event was hosted by Brentley Stead, a local food writer for Folio Weekly.
The event started off with words from Brentley and then a breakdown of the menu from Craft Pizza Co. Executive Chef, Joshua Agan. From there the fun started.
As you can see from the pictures, we were feed very well. The first course of the evening was a very tasty Mushroom Toast. Then followed by that was one of my favorite dishes of the night, the Crispy Crab Cakes. The crab cakes were topped with a roasted chow chow, tabasco aioli and a piquillo pepper romesco. I have always been a fan of crab cakes and these are up there with some of the best that I've had. The combination of crab and the little heat from the tabasco aioli and pepper romesco, made for a different take on a more simple crab cake dish. You can say the the heat, bumped it up a notch. Next, we tried the Kale & Arugula Salad. Very simple salad, topped with farm egg, bacon, crispy shallots, capers & pistachio. The dish was very light and flavorful. Next was the course we were all waiting for.....PIZZA!!! I am from New York, so pizza is one of my favorite things to devour. We got to try slices from 4 different pizzas, Magherita, Fennel Sausage, Diavolo and Roasted Cauliflower. They were all very tasty. But, the Fennel Sausage was my favorite. It was topped with piquillo peppers, roasted garlic ricotta mozzarella and oregano. The aroma from the roasted garlic ricotta was amazing by itself. All those ingredients then add the fennel sausage. DELECTABLE!!! Finally, we finished with the a classic dessert, Ice Cream Sandwich. Freshly Baked Chocolate Chunk cookie, stuffed with vanilla bean ice cream. The cookie itself stole the show. Overall, it was a great meal and everyones tummy left very happy. I looked at their menu and I will definitely be back.
